Circle and Tazapay: A New Era in Global Payments Solutions

Circle has signed a definitive agreement to acquire Singapore-based cross-border payments company Tazapay, expanding its global payments infrastructure and strengthening its ability to support faster international transactions. The deal is expected to close in 2027, subject to customary closing conditions and regulatory approvals, including approval from the Monetary Authority of Singapore.

The acquisition brings together Circle’s USDC payment infrastructure with Tazapay’s banking relationships, local payment rails, and international payout network. Tazapay currently processes more than $25 billion in annualized payment volume and works with more than 60 banking and fintech partners, with local payout coverage across more than 100 markets.

    Why Circle Is Acquiring Tazapay

The agreement is designed to expand Circle’s ability to move money across borders while giving businesses access to more local payment infrastructure. Circle said the combination can help support near-instant, 24/7 international payments and increase the use of USDC in cross-border commerce.

Tazapay has already been a design partner for Circle Payments Network since 2025. Bringing the company into Circle is expected to deepen that relationship and give Circle greater reach across Asia-Pacific and other emerging markets.

    What Tazapay Brings to Circle

Tazapay provides businesses with cross-border collection, conversion, and payout services through local payment networks. Its platform supports cards and numerous local payment methods across global markets, helping companies receive and send funds without building separate payment integrations for every country.

The company supports currencies including USD, EUR, GBP, CAD, BRL, INR, SGD, AED, and many others. This means businesses operating in markets such as Canada and Brazil can access local currency payment and settlement options through Tazapay’s infrastructure.

Tazapay Payment Methods and Global Reach

Tazapay’s payment methods include cards, bank transfers, local payment networks, wallets, and other regional options. Its platform is designed to connect businesses with local collection and payout rails through a unified integration.

This model is particularly relevant for companies selling internationally, as they can offer customers familiar ways to pay while managing international collections and payouts through one infrastructure layer.

    Tazapay Canada and Regulatory Infrastructure

Regulation is another important part of Tazapay’s business model. Tazapay Canada Corp. is registered as a Money Services Business with FINTRAC and is also registered as a Payment Service Provider under Canada’s Retail Payment Activities Act framework.

Tazapay also holds a Major Payment Institution licence from the Monetary Authority of Singapore, along with registrations and licences in other jurisdictions. These regulatory relationships are important as Circle expands its global payments capabilities.

What the Acquisition Means for Global Payments

The deal reflects a wider shift toward payment infrastructure that can connect traditional currencies with digital-dollar settlement. Tazapay says its platform already connects stablecoin and fiat payment rails, while Circle is looking to make USDC more useful for international commerce.

For businesses, the combination could mean broader market coverage, more local payment choices, and faster international settlement. It also strengthens Circle’s position in the growing cross-border payments market.

What Comes Next for Circle and Tazapay

Circle’s agreement to acquire Tazapay marks a significant step in its global payments strategy. By combining Circle’s financial infrastructure with Tazapay’s local payment networks, banking partnerships, and regulatory footprint, the companies aim to make international money movement more connected and accessible.

The transaction still requires regulatory approvals before completion, but if finalized, it could give Circle a broader foundation for expanding cross-border payment services worldwide.
