Vulnerabilities are common when it comes to digitalization and endless software remains under threat. These vulnerabilities demand for an effective scoring system that ensures how vulnerable your system is. There have been multiple scoring systems like Common Vulnerability Scoring System (CVSS), and Exploit Prediction Scoring System (EPSS) that have helped risk managers mitigate cyber threats.

Coalition, Inc, a California, US-based Active Insurance provider that helps in preventing digital risks has unveiled the Coalition Exploit Scoring System (Coalition ESS). Coalition ESS is a vulnerability scoring system empowering risk managers to mitigate potential cyber threats.

“Coalition, Inc, a California, US-based Active Insurance provider that helps in preventing digital risks has unveiled the Coalition Exploit Scoring System (Coalition ESS). Coalition ESS is a vulnerability scoring system empowering risk managers to mitigate potential cyber threats.”

What is Coalition Exploit Scoring System?

Coalition ESS is a security risk prioritisation scoring system developed by Coalition Security Labs, the company’s research and innovation centre. It uses real-time monitoring and dynamic scoring to help businesses of all sizes understand which vulnerabilities to patch first.

Tiago Henriques, Coalition’s Head of Security Research, said, “In cybersecurity, timing is everything. Thousands of new vulnerabilities are published monthly, and it’s nearly impossible for IT and security teams to quickly understand and address them all. Defenders need a more efficient way to sift through the noise and prioritize which vulnerabilities to remediate. With Coalition ESS, they have an early source of truth to evaluate which risks to prioritize mitigating before an incident occurs,”

What technologies ESS from Coalition Include?

Coalition ESS uses artificial intelligence and large language modelling to scan the descriptions used in the latest CVEs (Common Vulnerabilities and Exposures) and compare them to previously released vulnerabilities to foresee the likelihood of exploitability.

In contrast to the scores obtained from the Common Vulnerability Scoring System (CVSS), Coalition ESS scores are dynamic, reacting to changes in available exploit information. In contrast to other systems, where scoring a vulnerability can take anyplace from one week to one month, Coalition ESS scores are accessible up to one week after the initial vulnerability announcement.
